The unit also collaborates with other departments of the medical college such as Microbiology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Virology etc and undertakes basic research in Cell & Molecular Biology, Molecular Endocrinology and Genomics to understand the real mechanisms behind chronic diseases like Diabetes Mellitus, Cancer, Cardiac Diseases and diseases prevalent in the local population like –
β thalassemia, Sickle Cell Anemia, Oral Cancers and Kyasanur forest disease to develop innovative solutions.
